Managing Documents

This guide covers how to access your document list, create a new document to send to a signer, and use the self-sign flow to sign a document yourself.

Prerequisites

  • You are logged in to your Blank Sign account
  • You have a PDF file ready to upload
1

Open the Documents section

Navigate to Documents in your dashboard. The documents page will load and display your document library.
2

Review your document list

On the Documents page, use the status tabs — All, Sent, and Completed — to filter documents by their current stage in the signing process.
Use the All tab to see every document regardless of status, or switch to Sent or Completed to focus on documents at a specific stage.
3

Start a new document for signing

Click New Document (or navigate to the new document page) to open the document creation form. You will see options to upload or select a PDF.
4

Upload your PDF

Click the file upload area and select your PDF file from your computer. After the file uploads, the document title field will automatically populate based on the filename.
5

Set the document title

Review the auto-filled Title field and update it if needed. For example, enter a descriptive name such as E2E Test Document.
6

Add a signer

Enter the signer’s details in the required fields:
  • Name — Enter the signer’s full name (for example, Jane Signer)
  • Email — Enter the signer’s email address (for example, [email protected])
The signer will receive an email invitation to review and sign the document. Make sure the email address is correct before proceeding.
7

Use Self-Sign for documents you sign yourself

If you need to sign a document yourself rather than send it to someone else, navigate to Self-Sign from the Documents section. This opens a dedicated upload flow for self-signed documents.
8

Upload your PDF for self-signing

Click the file upload area on the Self-Sign page and select your PDF. Once the file has uploaded, a Title field will appear.
9

Set the self-sign document title

Enter a name for your document in the Title field to help you identify it later.
10

Proceed to sign

After uploading and naming your document, the Sign Document button will become visible. Click Sign Document to proceed to the signing interface.
The Sign Document button only appears after a file has been successfully uploaded. If you do not see it, ensure your PDF has finished uploading.
Documents move through a lifecycle of Sent → Completed once all required parties have signed. You can track progress at any time from the Documents list using the status tabs.
