Using the Editor

Slash Commands

Type / anywhere in the editor to open the slash command menu. From here you can insert:
  • Heading 1, 2, 3 — Section headings at different levels
  • Bullet List — Unordered list items
  • Numbered List — Ordered list items
  • Check List — To-do items with checkboxes
  • Code Block — Syntax-highlighted code snippets
  • Quote — Block quotes for callouts or citations
  • Divider — Horizontal rule to separate sections
  • Image — Upload or embed an image

Formatting Text

Select text to see the formatting toolbar:
  • Bold (Ctrl/Cmd + B)
  • Italic (Ctrl/Cmd + I)
  • Code — Inline code formatting
  • Strikethrough — Crossed-out text

Drag and Drop

Hover over any block to see the drag handle on the left. Click and drag to reorder blocks within the page.

Organizing Pages

Nesting Pages

Pages can be nested inside other pages to create a hierarchy. In the sidebar page tree, drag a page onto another page to make it a child. You can nest pages to unlimited depth.

Favorites

Star important pages to pin them to the Favorites section at the top of the sidebar:
  1. Open a page
  2. Click the star icon in the page header
  3. The page appears in your Favorites section
Favorites are per-user — each team member has their own favorites.

Tags

Use tags to categorize pages across your hierarchy:
  1. Open the tag manager from the sidebar
  2. Create tags with names and colors
  3. Assign tags to pages via the page editor
  4. Filter the page list by tag to find related content

Recent Pages

The sidebar shows your recently visited pages, making it easy to return to pages you were working on.

Using Databases

Databases let you embed structured data directly within a page.

Creating a Database

  1. Open a page where you want the database
  2. Create an inline database from the page
  3. Give the database a title
  4. Define columns (text, number, select, date, checkbox, etc.)

Table View

The default view displays data as a spreadsheet-like table:
  • Click a cell to edit its value
  • Click + to add a new row
  • Drag rows to reorder them
  • Add, rename, or remove columns from the column header

Kanban View

Switch to kanban view to visualize data as cards in columns:
  • Cards are grouped by a select column
  • Drag cards between columns to update their status
  • Each card shows a summary of its row data

Column Types

Collaborating in Real-Time

Notes supports real-time collaboration — multiple team members can edit the same page simultaneously.

How It Works

  1. Open any page
  2. If another team member opens the same page, you will see their cursor and selections in real-time
  3. Changes from all editors are merged automatically
  4. Colored cursors show each collaborator’s position
  5. The presence indicator in the editor shows who else is currently on the page
No special setup is required. Collaboration works automatically whenever multiple users open the same page.

Sharing Pages Publicly

You can share any page via a public link that does not require login:
  1. Open the page you want to share
  2. Click the Share button in the page header
  3. Toggle sharing on to generate a public link
  4. Optionally set a password for access control
  5. Optionally set an expiration date for the link
  6. Copy the link and send it to anyone
To stop sharing, open the share dialog and toggle sharing off.

Using Templates

Templates let you save page structures for reuse.

Saving a Page as a Template

  1. Create a page with the structure you want to reuse
  2. Open the template gallery from the sidebar
  3. Save the current page as a template

Creating a Page from a Template

  1. Open the Templates section in the sidebar
  2. Browse available templates
  3. Click a template to create a new page with that structure
  4. The new page is a copy — editing it does not affect the template

Trash & Recovery

When you delete a page, it moves to the trash instead of being permanently removed.

Restoring Pages

  1. Open Trash from the sidebar
  2. Find the page you want to recover
  3. Click Restore to move it back to its original location

Permanent Deletion

Admins can permanently delete pages from the trash. This action cannot be undone.

Exporting Pages

Export any page to Markdown format:
  1. Open the page
  2. Use the export option to download as .md
  3. The exported file preserves headings, lists, code blocks, and inline formatting

Settings (Admin Only)

Workspace settings are available to users with the Admin role. Access settings from the Settings link in the sidebar.
