Managing Employees

This guide walks you through creating a new employee record and editing their information after it has been saved.

Prerequisites

  • You must be logged in to Blank HR with sufficient permissions to manage employee records.
1

Open the new employee form

Navigate to Employees > New Employee or go directly to /dashboard/employees/new. Wait for the form to finish loading before proceeding.
2

Enter personal details

On the Personal tab (active by default), fill in the following fields:
  • First Name — enter the employee’s first name (e.g., John)
  • Last Name — enter the employee’s last name (e.g., Doe)
  • Email — enter the employee’s work email address (e.g., [email protected])
3

Switch to the Employment tab

Click the Employment tab at the top of the form to reveal employment-related fields.
4

Enter the joining date

In the Joining Date field, enter the date the employee starts (e.g., 2026-01-15). Use the YYYY-MM-DD format or select a date using the date picker.
5

Create the employee record

Click the Create Employee button to save the new record. You will see a confirmation message or be redirected to the employee’s profile page.
6

Open the employee list

Navigate to /dashboard/employees to view all existing employee records.
7

Open the employee for editing

Locate the employee you just created and click the edit icon (pencil) next to their name. The employee’s detail form will open.
8

Switch to the Contact tab

Click the Contact tab at the top of the form to reveal contact-related fields.
9

Enter a phone number

In the Phone field, enter the employee’s phone number (e.g., +1234567890). Include the country code for international numbers.
10

Save your changes

Click the Update Employee button to save the updated contact information.
First Name is a required field. Last Name, Email, and Joining Date are strongly recommended to ensure the employee record is complete and identifiable.
The employee form is organized into tabs — Personal, Employment, and Contact — so you can focus on one category of information at a time. You can return to any tab to update details after the record has been created.
