Creating and Submitting a Sales Order

This guide walks you through creating a new sales order with a line item and submitting it to confirm the order in your system.

Prerequisites

  • At least one customer exists in your system (e.g., the customer record is already created)
  • At least one item exists in your item catalog
1

Open the new Sales Order form

Navigate to Selling > Sales Order and click the New button to open a blank sales order form.
2

Enter the customer

In the Customer field, type or select the name of the customer for this order (for example, “E2E Test Customer”).
3

Add a line item

In the items table, locate the first row and enter the following details:
  • Item Name / Code: Type the item you want to add (for example, “Widget A”)
  • Quantity: Enter the number of units (for example, 5)
  • Rate: Enter the unit price (for example, 200)
The Amount column will be calculated automatically based on the quantity and rate.
4

Save the sales order

Click the Save button. A confirmation notification will appear briefly on the screen to confirm the record has been saved successfully.
5

Reopen the saved sales order

Navigate to Selling > Sales Order to see the list of all sales orders. Click the row for the order you just created to open it.
6

Submit the sales order

Click the Submit button. If a confirmation dialog appears, click Submit, Confirm, or Yes to proceed.
7

Confirm the order is submitted

The sales order status will update to Submitted, confirming the order has been finalized and is ready for fulfillment.
Sales orders follow a draft-to-submitted lifecycle. While in Draft status, the order can be edited freely. Once Submitted, the order is locked and will trigger downstream processes such as delivery and invoicing.
To make changes to a submitted sales order, use the Amend option to create an amended version of the record. Avoid cancelling and recreating orders unless necessary.
